Shards

I am like broken glass
That cannot be replaced
The tiny shards
From fallen plates

Minute pieces are the smallest detail
The story of my life
Is the longest tale

Although I'm still young
There is so much to tell
The way I have lived my life
And climbed out of hell

People that I trusted
Are making me cry
People that I loved
Make me want to die

Through cracked mirrors
What do I see?

A broken girl
Staring back at me

The pieces of her life
Like the fallen plates
Are too hot to touch
And too much to face.

Shadows

Shadowed by a box of illusions
Shadowed by an empty box of hope
Shadowed by a box of misconceptions
Shadowed by an empty box of love

How many tries
Of how many doors
Do you have to walk through
To find your soul
And how many lives
Do you have to cross
To find the power
That was never your own

Shadowed by a box of perceptions
Shadowed by a box of broken dreams
Shadowed by a box of lost words and the laughter that was
Shadowed by a box torn apart at the seams

How many tries
Of how many doors
Do you have to walk through
To find your soul
And how many lives
Do you have to cross
To find the power
That was never your own.

Waves

Part one

The night watchmen say
As they look over the bay
That they watched you as you drowned
And they told me they saw you
With your mouth open wide
Though they didn't hear a sound.

I asked if they helped you
Swim back to the shore
And walk you back to the land
They told me they saw you
Saying goodbyeWith a gentle wave of your hand.

Now as I watch the waves
Crash onto the sand
I remember you singing to me
And the night watchmen say
That they remember the day
You swam out into the sea.

Part two

The crabnet is empty
As the fisherman drinks
Away all his troublesome blues
With no children to love him
And no reason to smile
His thoughts are filled with you.

He looks out to the sea
And remembers the day
When you left without goodbye
And the kiss that you blew him
As you walked out the door
With nothing but a smile.

Now he remembers the day
When you jumped in
And drowned in the ocean blue
And ten years later
As he remembers that day
He jumps in after you.
